What lawyers should not tell?

An attorney should use the procedures of the law only for legitimate purposes and not to harass or intimidate others. An attorney must demonstrate respect for the law. These rules create unnecessary barriers to the flow of information about lawyers' services to people who need them, so this rule subjects lawyers' advertising only to the requirement that it not be false or misleading. A lawyer, as a member of the legal profession, is a representative of clients, an official of the judicial system and a public citizen who has a special responsibility with regard to the quality of justice. When members of the organization make decisions on your behalf, the lawyer must generally accept the decisions, even if they are useful or prudent are doubtful. Service as a neutral third party may include service as an arbitrator, mediator, or in any other capacity that allows the lawyer to assist the parties in resolving the matter.

Giving the impression that lawyers work in a firm when they don't is inherently misleading, since it suggests that the different lawyers involved are willing to support each other and contribute to the processing of a case. An attorney will not request any substantial donation from a client, including a testamentary donation, nor will he prepare on behalf of a client an instrument that gives the lawyer or a person related to the lawyer a substantial donation, unless the attorney or other recipient of the donation is related to the client. It is generally accepted that the lawyer's duty of openness and the obligation of honesty apply when an attorney appears in court, participates in public life, or acts in within the community. The fact that the revocation of consent to the client's own representation prevents the lawyer from continuing to represent other clients depends on the circumstances, including the nature of the conflict, whether the client revoked the consent due to a significant change in circumstances, the reasonable expectations of the other client, and whether significant harm would occur to other clients or to the lawyer.

Engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deception or misrepresentation, except that an attorney can advise, direct or supervise others, including clients, law enforcement officers and researchers, who are engaged in legal investigative activities;. The lawyer will explain the matter to the extent reasonably necessary to allow the client to make informed decisions regarding representation. The combination of the roles of lawyer and witness can harm the court and the opposing party and can also involve a conflict of interest between the lawyer and the client. An attorney will not knowingly represent a person in the same matter or in a substantially related matter in which a firm with which the lawyer was previously associated represented a client. With the exception of paragraphs (d) (and (d) (), this Rule does not authorize an attorney to establish an office or other systematic and continuing presence in this jurisdiction without being permitted to practice generally in this jurisdiction.

The requirement that the seller stop practicing law in a private capacity does not prohibit employment as a lawyer as a member of the staff of a public body or legal services entity that provides legal services to poor people, or as an internal lawyer in a company.
